Stewardship Commitment
2007-2008

September 15th, 2007

Dear Member of St. Therese Parish:

A few weeks ago, we received a note in an envelope with a donation for the support of the parish containing the message, “I believe in the mission of St. Therese Parish.” It was a welcomed affirmation of our commitment to continue our stewardship for the sake of the Gospel!

To all who gave of your time and talent this past year, your financial gifts, your participation in ministries, and your prayer for the parish, we thank you. As we completed our fiftieth year as a parish in May 2007, we recommitted ourselves “to walk together by faith” in following Christ with vision, strength, and courage.

Our Stewardship Commitment 2007-2008 begins this month. Each year, in the fall, we ask all parish members to reflect and pray about how they will respond to the call to stewardship—the call to give back to God a portion of the time, the talents, and the financial treasure that God has given by supporting and participating in the ministries of our parish faith community. As parish members, each giving our part, we share the responsibility for the vitality of our parish and its ministries.

This year, we are excited about our catechetical ministry effort, “God’s Littlest People,” for children ages three to seven (or First Communion) and their families, and “Living As God’s People,” our whole community catechesis for youth and families. In addition, we are re-energizing our youth ministry and service components and strengthening our other ministries.

Please read over the enclosed “Parish Ministries” list that accompanies this letter and fill out the 2007-2008 Stewardship Commitment Card by listing any ministries that you are interested in for 2007-2008 along with your financial commitment. Kindly list these even if you are currently serving in the ministry. If you wish to respond online, please click here to submit a form online. All information will be kept confidential.

Your prompt attention and reply saves the parish time and money on follow-up mailings. Members of the Parish Council and Finance/Administration Committee will follow up on anyone who has not returned their cards by November 1st, 2007. Once again, we thank you for helping us steward our gifts through our parish community of St. Therese. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity

Sincerely,

The St. Therese Finance/Administration Committee

My Church is Composed
A Stewardship Prayer

My church is composed
of people like me.

I help make it what it is.

It will be friendly, if I am.

Its pews will be filled,
if I help fill them.

It will do great work, if I work.

It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.

It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them.

It will be a church of loyalty and love, or fearlessness and faith, and a church of noble spirit, if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things.

Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of BEING all the things that I want my church to be.

Amen.
