Michael and Courtney Falk would like to run the 3rd Annual Harvest Craft Fair, but it’s become too much for just two people, especially with a little one joining them this summer! We need the help of some serious volunteers to make it successful. We need coordinators for the Raffle Booth, the St. Therese Booth, Volunteers, and Public Relations. The following duties are required for these positions:

St. Therese Booth

  • Advertise for/acquire donations
  • Price items
  • Set up the St. Therese Booth before the event

Volunteers

  • Set shifts for the weekend for all areas
  • Advertise for volunteers for the weekend of the Craft Fair through pulpit and bulletin announcements, and personal pleas from the pulpit
  • Help volunteers sign up after all masses in October (you may need to recruit helpers for this)
  • Create charts and reminder cards for easy sign up
  • Answer questions regarding volunteer duties

Public Relations

  • Recruit crew to help distribute advertising posters around Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, West Allis, etc (posters will be provided)
  • Update banners and coordinate with Denise to display them
  • Send bulletin announcements to area churches
  • Write and submit online ads (Craigslist, craft fair websites, tosanow.com, etc)
  • Send info to free publications like community newspapers
  • Write and submit ads for newspapers (Journal-Sentinel,  Catholic Herald, etc)

Raffle Booth

  • Advertise for donations
  • Organize the donations into a pleasing display
  • Set prices for tickets
  • Set up ticket collection bins (coffee cans)
  • Answer any questions about the Raffle or items
  • Call winners Monday after event

All coordinators must be able to take charge and make their own decisions about their duties, as well as be able to follow through with the tasks at hand.  Courtney has all of the materials that were used in the previous two years, and is happy to provide you with them to get you started, including bulletin and pulpit advertisements, businesses that accepted posters, and newspaper and online ads.  Courtney and Michael are also willing to work with you to help you get started.

We hope to start advertising for exhibitors within the next couple of weeks, but we can’t launch this effort alone. Craft Fair was a Success!

The Craft Fair coordinators would like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated food or money, and especially to those who volunteered this past weekend. We saw a lot of volunteers here all weekend! We received many compliments from vendors and visitors that everyone they talked to was very friendly, and some went so far as to say this is the friendliest fair they’ve attended in a long time. Many of the vendors were especially grateful for the help setting up and tearing down. As far as we know, we are the only fair that does that. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help! Thank you so much for helping in your own “Little Way!”

Once everything is tallied and all the remaining bills are paid, we will publish in the bulletin what the final count was for this weekend’s fundraiser.

St. Therese Parish is hosting its first Harvest Craft Fair on the weekend of November 7th/8th. We have filled the hall with 26 of the areas crafters, and they are all looking forward to selling their wonderful handmade items. Please join us for this free event, for a great fundraiser and friend-raiser. We have many beautiful handmade raffle items as well, for which you can purchase a chance to win. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. A portion of the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to Hunger Task Force. In fact, if you bring and donate 2 non-perishable food items, you will receive a free raffle ticket. (Limit 2 free tickets per person.)

Concessions will be available all weekend, including donuts and coffee on Saturday morning. There will be a separate room where you may sit and relax away from the bustle of the fair while you enjoy your food.

Entertainment Books will also be on sale all weekend. A Milwaukee-area edition is only $35 ($5 off the cover price!) and you can take it home with you and start saving immediately. Perhaps you have relatives out-of-town, or perhaps your family has a “summer home” in some other part of the country? You will be able to order an Entertainment book from any region of the country for anywhere from $25-$40. Canada and Puerto Rico editions are also available. Payment is due on purchase, so please plan ahead! Checks will be accepted for Entertainment Books only. Remember, they make great Christmas gifts!

This is a completely indoor, handicap-accessible event, with ample free parking. We hope to see you there!

Now, we still need plenty of volunteers in order to make this event a successful fundraiser for the parish. If you are willing and able to volunteer a few hours of your time on the weekend of November 6th-8th, please call Courtney in the Parish Office to discuss your availability. We especially need help for set up and clean up.

We are also in need of some food items for our concession stand. We need cookies/bars/brownies, cans of diet soda, individual-size bags of chips, shredded cheese and shredded lettuce. Please, shredded only. If you are able to donate any of these items, please bring them to the Parish Office any time during business hours next week, or on November 7th from 6:00-8:00pm.

We are looking forward to this event, and we believe it will be quite successful, but we need your help to pull it off. If you have any questions, please email the Craft Fair Coordinators with any questions you may have. Thank you for anything you can do!
