With the high cost of food and entertainment it is time to get back to basics. Elterine and Cathy cordially invite you, your family, neighbors, and friends to join as community and share a meal with your St. Therese Family. This event will take place on Friday, November 14th at 6pm. Please register by Monday, November 10th. We look forward to seeing you there!
St Therese parish is invited to meet the challenge. We have set a goal of 50 members to join the walk against hunger. We will collect food to be donated to Second Harvest on Sunday, October 12th, that the walkers will transport to Veterans Park at the Milwaukee Lakefront.
Food items needed are canned corn, green beans, carrots and peas: dry cereal, oatmeal grits and pancake mixes: canned pears, apricots, pineapple and peaches: powdered or concentrated infant formula (Nestle Good Start), food and diapers: pastas, rice (plain or mixes), potato mixes, macaroni and cheese dinners: canned meat, poultry, fish, peanut butter, beans, nuts and high-protein main dishes such as chili and stews: canned or dry soups (vegetable, tomato, chicken and pea). Before you donate, check to ensure that the food is not expired, damaged, unlabeled or opened.
Children, the elderly, and the ill are less likely to suffer from under-nutrition or malnutrition when they receive a diet of preferred food items.
For those of you are not able to walk, sponsors are needed and/or volunteers to help at the Lakefront on the 12th to help distribute crop walk buttons, work in the registration tent, food spotters to direct food delivery to the packaging site, route markers and many other opportunities.
For those of you who have access to the web, you can register as a member of St. Therese’s team, or sponsor someone who is walking: go to the St. Therese Mil-walkers Team page, to get started. We’d love to have you on our team!
I know that we can meet our goal and have fun helping to prevent poverty and hunger here in Milwaukee and across the world. St. Therese has done it before! For more information, call or email Cathy in the Parish Office or visit cropwalkonline.org
