About the event

We celebrate the fourth annual World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on July 28th. Pope Francis has established this celebration on the fourth Sunday of July, near the liturgical memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.  The theme for this year’s celebration is a line from Psalm 71 –“Do not cast me off in my old age.

This choice was “meant to call attention to the fact that, sadly, loneliness is the bitter lot in life of many elderly persons, so often the victims of the throwaway culture.”

We will bless all Grandparents and Elderly attendees at Mass on July 28th to honor their contributions to their families and our parish family.
